One more stitch to go and your skirt is complete. The last bit we need to do is the hem. If you go back into your worksheet and you look at your calculations, you'll notice that in each skirt pattern we have allowed for one inch of hem, okay? Now, let me show you why. What I have done here is I have ironed all the way around the hem of my skirt, a half an inch. Then I ironed it up another half inch, just like that. You usually wanna do this, even if you serge the edge and you just wanna fold it up like this. Sometimes that serged edge looks kind of funny on the edge. So it's nice if you hide your raw edge whether it's finished or not inside the skirt to get a nice, clean look. So I've gone all the way around my skirt, ironed it up one half inch and then another one half inch just like this. Then I'm simply gonna top stitch it like I've done with this one here. So you can see that I have a very nice top stitch right here. Let's take a look at what it looks like on the inside. You can see I stitched really close to this fold here because my legs are gonna go in and out through here as I put it on and off. I don't want there to be a big flap that I could get stuck on. So I just wanna go really close to the edge. So you're actually going to sew it with the wrong side face up, and you're just gonna stitch right along the edge of that beautiful fold that you made just like that. And that is all there is to hemming. Thank you for joining me on this journey of skirts. You've learned how to do a side zipper and a back zipper and a slit and a faced waist line and an attached waistline both overlapped and not overlapped. And the key thing is that you learned how to make darts so that you can take that flat piece of fabric and make it round to curve your figure. I hope you enjoy making many fitted skirts and now you always can have the perfect fitted skirt hanging in your closet, ready for you to wear.
