Mini Zipper Pouch
Nicki LaFoilleDescription
Nicki LaFoille discusses the supplies needed to make the small zippered pouch. The fabric requirements are so small, you can reach into your stash of scraps to complete the project. The project also requires a rectangle of fusible fleece or light- to medium-weight interfacing, and a zipper that is 4” long at minimum. You can start with a longer zipper, as Nicki demonstrates how to shorten a nylon coil zipper to any length.
Create a pouch using all zippers in this Gold Membership exclusive project.
Once the zipper is installed and topstitched, Nicki demonstrates how to stitch the lower edge to create the body of the pouch. The next step is to box the corners. Boxing the corners requires you to clip a small rectangle out of the lower edges and fold the fabric in a certain way. You will then learn how to create a pleat at the upper edge of the bag.
Nicki demonstrates how to stitch a strap from one of the smaller fabric strips, and offers tips for perfect topstitching when stitching the strap edges. You will then use the remaining fabric strip to bind the upper edge and attach the strap all in the same step.
