How to Fussy Cut

Today I'm working on making a sunglasses case and I wanna be a little bit fussy about it. So I'm gonna give you some tips on how to fussy cut. So fussy cutting can mean a couple of things. First off, I wanna make sure that I get this part of the fabric 'cause I really like these flowers and the colors that are there. So I've already got my pocket for my sunglasses case cut out.

And when I'm fussy cutting, if there's pockets involved and I'm trying to get things lined up I cut the smallest pieces first. So this one's already cut. So now I'm gonna line it up and I try to get as many points to match as possible. So I've got this leaf down here and this circle looks like I need to bring it up a tiny bit so that that circle is completed. Now over here is off a bit.

So I bring this side down. Now this flower is totally off to angle it. Possibly even bring it. There we go over a tiny bit. So you have to fuss with it since it is indeed fussy cutting.

That flower just doesn't quite wanna line up. So I'm gonna match this up, match this up. Now that flower is gonna get lost in the seam allowance. So I'm not too concerned about it. I'm more concerned about this stuff up here.

So once I've got it, I've got my piece of batting already cut out and I'm gonna use it as my guide. And it's a little bit bigger so I can let it hang over the pocket a tiny bit. And I just like to use my rotary cutter and my batting as my pattern piece. And cut. Lets see what I got Sometimes those corners don't like to cut all the way my pocket already to go.

As you can see I'll cut this down a little bit more once I shape my piece. And that's it. That is how you fussy cut.
