What was that in-between the tracing paper and facing?

Keep tissue patterns from tearing by transferring the markings to light to medium weight interfacing. Using a tracing wheel and tracing paper, the colored chalk on the tracing paper transfers the markings onto the interfacing. The interfacing is durable and easy to store while still being soft enough to pin to fabric.
